Rwanda’s National Volunteer Service with 40,000 Youth Volunteers

On January 22, 2013 Prime Minister Pierre Damien Habumuremyi, launched the national voluntary service with more than 40,000 youth lined up to engage in the three-month service. This three-month period is a tradition passed down generationally that allows Rwandan youth the opportunity to take part in patriotism and nationalism, and, “…Our youth will get a chance to fight evil in society and assist in developing the nation with hands-on experience,” the PM said.
